An image produced using Michel Eugene Antoniadi's personal Telescope. An 8 inch Newton Telescope by George Calver used in 1909 by Antoniadi at the Juvisy Observatory (France).
The Telescope, donated by a member of the Astronomical Society of France (Société Astronomique de France) , has been carefully maintained over the years and put back into service by the authors of the image.
The altazimuth mount made acquisition difficult, but its fine movements and the skill of the observers still enabled Mars to be captured for 3 minutes of tracking.
Antoniadi was a French astronomer specialist of Mars and exceptional observer, he demonstrated the absence of channels on Mars thanks to the large 83cm telescope of the Meudon observatory. Using Antoniadi personal telescope is, of course, a joy and a source of emotion over 111 years later.

Le Télescope, don d'un membre de la Société Astronomique de France a été entretenu avec soin au fil des ans et remis en service par les auteurs de l'image.
La monture azimutale a rendu l'acquisition difficile, mais ses mouvements fins et l'adresse des observateurs ont permis malgré tout de capturer Mars pendant 3 minutes de suivi.
Antoniadi était un astronome Français spécialiste de Mars et exceptionnel observateur, il a démontré l'absence de canaux sur Mars grâce à la grande lunette de 83cm de l'observatoire de Meudon. Utiliser son télescope personnel est bien entendu une joie et source d'émotions plus de 111 ans après.
